About University of Technology (UoT, IRAQ)
University of Technology – Iraq:
In 1975, the University of Technology, UOT, was established under the name of Industrial Institute and UOT is very proud of its rich history that has developed since those first classes were held in 1975. UOT is a leading multi-disciplinary institution in Iraq, based on its long standing collaboration with local industries and research centers. Our University always aims at excellence in providing higher education services to meet the needs of the national community, and the effective continuous contribution in achieving Iraq’s social and economic development.
Civil Engineering Department:
The department was established at 1960 in parallel with the foundation of the higher industrial institute. The duration of study at the department was 5 years .The first students graduated from the department in 1965.
Today, there are six engineering programs (4 years duration) in the Civil Engineering Department, they are:
1. Structural Engineering.
2. Construction Engineering and Management.
3. Sanitary and Environmental Engineering.
4. Highways and Bridges Engineering.
5. Hydraulic Structures and Water Engineering.
6. Geomatics Engineering.
The faculty’s mission is to create professional engineers in the above-mentioned fields. These graduates are characterized by a high level of knowledge and technological innovation. Their qualifications are in-line with the internationally well-known approved standards in quality assurance and accreditation of engineering programs. Our mission is to be accomplished through a commitment to excellence in the fields of education, research and community service.
About Istanbul Technical University (ITU, TURKEY)
Istanbul Technical University –TURKEY:
Founded in 1773 as the “Imperial School of Naval Engineering”, Istanbul Technical University is a prominent and pioneering university of engineering and architecture with many innovative studies in science, technology, research and development. İTÜ, as a university mainly composed of graduate engineering schools and research laboratories, works closely in collaboration with enterprises and other economic and social partners. Our university facilitates the knowledge and technology transfer to industries, management centers, briefly to all society. To do this, İTÜ has created many Techno-Science parks, incubation centers, entrepreneurship and innovation center and technology transfer office. This way, İTÜ offers a favorable environment for students to build a successful career in their professions, to improve themselves, to seek internship opportunities and to conduct research projects.
ITU Civil Engineering Department
The Civil Engineering Department at ITU started as a military engineering school in 1773 and it was transformed to its current civil form in 1883. This date has also been accepted as the beginning of civil engineering in Turkey. Our department currently has 1761 undergraduate and 1224 graduate students enrolled. There are 92 faculty members, 7 instructors, and 38 research assistants working within the Civil Engineering Department.
Under the umbrella of civil engineering, we offer bilingual education where the students can take a certain proportion of their courses ranging from a minimum of 30% up to 100% in English.
Our joint program with the University at Buffalo (UB), The State University of New York (SUNY) allow our students to spend alternate years at ITU and SUNY and obtain undergraduate degree diplomas from both institutions upon graduation.
ITU Civil Engineering program was accredited in 2012 by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET (www.abet.org) as one of the 23 undergraduate programs at ITU accredited by ABET. In June 2016, accreditation application for a new term was filed with ABET.

About Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST, IRAQ)
Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) in Sulaymaniyah was founded and Licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, according to the Kurdistan Region Government’s official letter No. 17867/7 on October 18, 2009. KUST is a private university governed by a Board of Trustees and administered by its University Council. Its main campus is located in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in Kurdistan, Iraq.
